The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that aims to provide support and services for individuals with disabilities. The NDIS focuses on empowering people with disabilities to lead an independent and fulfilling life by providing tailored support tailored to their specific needs and goals.
Under the NDIS, participants receive funding for a range of categories of support and services, known as the “support group”. The specific support available to a participant depends on their individual circumstances, goals and needs.
Core Supports
These are important supports that help participants with their daily activities and community participation. It includes assistance with personal care, assistance with household chores, transportation, and social participation.
Capital Supports
This type of assistance includes funding for assistive technologies, home modifications, and vehicle modifications. These developments aim to increase participants’ autonomy and access to their environment.
Capacity Building Supports
This support focuses on developing participants’ skills and abilities to achieve their goals. They include areas such as improving daily living skills, social interaction, education and employment readiness, health and well-being, and behaviour management.

You must live in an area where the NDIS services are available.
Fulfil Residency Requirements
To be eligible, you need to be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
Meet Disability or Early Intervention Criteria
