School Leavers Employment Support
What is School Leavers Employment Support in the NDIS?
School Leaving Employment Support (SLES) is a category of support under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) designed to support young people with disabilities who are about to complete their final year of school. SLES aims to support these school leavers in the transition from school to work or further education and training.
SLES provides participants with individual support and activities focused on developing their skills, abilities and confidence in areas related to employment or further education. SLES aims to help youth with disabilities prepare for employment or pursue new educational opportunities, increasing their chances of gainful employment and independence.
SLES activities may include job readiness training, vocational skills development, work experience placements, exploring career options, building communication and social skills, and engaging in community activities related to employment or education.
