What is Community Participation in the NDIS?
Community participation in the NDIS refers to the support and assistance provided to NDIS participants to participate in a range of social, leisure and community activities The primary objective of community participation is to promote inclusion and active involvement of individuals with disabilities in their local communities. It strives to foster social connections, build friendships and enable participants to explore and pursue their interests, passions and personal goals in community settings.
Community participation activities may include activities such as attending community events, joining clubs or clubs, taking part in sports or arts programmes, volunteering, accessing educational opportunities and seeking local interests for NDIS and the importance of community involvement in creating a sense of belonging and well-being for the participants.
